Bharatpur History
The Bharatpur was governed by the Jat rulers till the 17th century. The farmers of Bharatpur revolted against the Mughals in the early 18th century. At that time, Jat rulers, Badan Singh and Churaman defeated the Mughals. After several wars, Badan Singh was crowned as Raj in 1724. Suraj Mal was the successor of Badan Sign. In 1733, he laid the foundation for Bharatpur City. Under his rule, Bharatpur thrived and gone through its golden period.

Government Museum, Bharatpur Rajasthan
Bharatpur government museum is one of the major attractions in Bharatpur. Initially, the museum was located in the center of Lohargah Fort. Then in 1944, it was transformed into a museum.
The art gallery in the museum houses various miniature paintings of peepal tree leaves, mica, and old litho papers. The prime collections of the museum are inscriptions, stone sculptures, terracotta items, coins, metallic objects, weapons, and local art. Most of the exhibits belong to the Bharatpur Royal Family. Lohagarh Fort is an ancient structure built in the 18th century by Jat rulers. The Fort was named as Iron Fort since British rulers were not able to conquer the fort. The fort is built in a square shape and rise 20 meters from the surface. The visitors can find 4 beautiful gardens separated by walkways. The entry to the fort is from the northern passage. The views of the Redstone and marble ruins can be seen near the entrance. The fort is decorated with 900 fountains. In the ancient times, to fill the fountains, bullock carts were used to carry water to the tanks.
Bharatpur Tourism: Deeg Palace History
There is an ancient belief that Lord Krishna paid a visit to Deeg on his way to Goverdan. Deeg was the 1st capital of Bharatpur during the period of Badan Singh in 1722. In 1730, Deeg Palace was built by Maharaja Suraj Mal. The Maharaja was impressed by the Mughal architecture and its influence can be seen in the construction of the Deeg Palace. The fort garden depicts the Mughal architecture.

To enjoy stunning views of the fountain with running water, it is better to visit the fort during monsoon season. During Saturdays, the fountains dazzle with running water. The fountains are run in the months of September and February. So, the best time to visit the palace is between October and March.
