Several myths suggest that the reincarnation of Goddess Parvati – Kanya Devi was supposed to Marry Lord, Shiva. However, he did not arrive on the day of the wedding. It was believed that Banasura, a demon can be killed only by a girl who is unmarried and hence virgin. And if she would be married, then the demon would not be killed. This made the Kanya Devi furious and she threw away all the items prepared for her wedding that then turned stone. The stones that now are found at the Kanyakumari beach are the exact stone that turned from rice on the wedding day.
