One of the four Char Dham India, Rameshwaram Temple lies gracefully as a subset of the Pamban Island also called as the Rameshwaram Temple. The temple has two deities, one the Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva that was brought by Lord Rams. It is named as Ramanathaswamy, a picturesque of lord blessing Ram. Another deity is the Viswalingam that is believed to be bought by Lord Hanuman as instructed by Rama. Since Hanuman was late in bringing the linga, Sita carved a linga out of the sand so that the puja of Lord Shiva could be started. However, when he tried to replace, the linga made from sand was not moving. So they decided to have both linga and worship them together.
The Temple opens at 5 in the morning. Tourist line up in the queue to have a glance at the Rameshwaram Jyotirlinga Darshan. Avoid going late as the temple would become crowdy. A bath before visiting the temple is suggested. You cannot trail along the temple for long and only a 2-3 minutes budder is kept to allow you to stay in the temple.

One of the most important things to do while in Rameshwaram is the darshan of the Spatika Linga. The linga can be seen only between 5-6 am in the morning and the sight holds great significance as people wait to have a glance at the same. You need to buy a ticket of RS 50 to have a glance of the Linga. A General queue charges RS 10 for the Spatika Linga Darshan At Rameshwaram. It is advised to take a bath before the darshan of Spatika Linga.

By road, Rameshwaram Kanyakumari Distance is 309 km and the rail distance being 407 km. There is only one direct train namely the Cape Rmm express that travels to and fro Rameshwaram and Kanyakumari. Instead, you can choose to hire a cab that would roughly account for 6 hours to reach Kanyakumari from Rameshwaram. A train, on the other hand, would take 7 hours to reach Kanyakumari.
