Of all the four major pilgrimage sites, Dwarka stands out owing to the fact that it was a kingdom of Lord Krishna. Derived from the word “Dwar”, justifying the belief that in ancient times the port there was deemed as the mainland for entrance in the place and the “ka” that means Brahma or rather Moksha, and so the name Dwarka as the staircase to Moksha. Post giving up on Mathura, Lord Krishna or popularly called Dwarkadhish shifted here adopting the place as his home. The place has immense pride and honor associated and hence occupies its place among the Char Dham India.
